SINIGANG NA HIPON RECIPE

One of my favorite soup dish is Sinigang na Hipon. Sinigang na Hipon is a popular Filipino dish. The soup has a distinctive sour taste from the fruit tamarind (sampalok), tree cucumber (kamias/iba) or guava.  If those fruit are unavailable, you can buy a sinigang mix in the grocery.

You will need:
1/2 kilo shrimp
1 bunch water kangkong
1 cup string beans
2 tomatoes
1 onion
1 liter water
1 pack sinigang mix tamarind soup base mix
(you may use the fresh tamarind, kamias or guava)
2 pieces banana pepper
3 tbsp fish sauce

Steps:
Bring water to a boil then add tomatoes and onions until it becomes soft.
Put-in the sinigang mix and simmer for 2 minutes.
(You may use the fresh tamarind, kamias or guava.)
Add the banana pepper and string beans and simmer for 3 minutes.
Add the shrimps and fish sauce then simmer for 5 minutes.
Add kangkong, turn the heat off,
and cover the pot. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Happy Cooking!
